I know I did not post last week and I will not be posting this week. I have been/will be taking a short blogging break for a few reasons. One, Mr. Benjamin is teething and finding time to do anything has been a bit hard at times. Two, I am still having some on going computer problems. Three, my Aunt has come up for a visit. See you next week!!

After I left Courtney’s house I went down to our local Hasting in search of The Polar Express! When Michael was young his family read The Polar Express every year at Christmas. I knew that I wanted to wait to buy him a copy of The Polar Express when I found out that I was pregnant. I found it in the children’s department. Then I went over to the section where they keep the pregnancy books and I sat and read about the road ahead of me. About an hour before Michael would be home I went to the register with The Polar Express and two pregnancy books.
I went home and went into out guest room, which would soon become a nursery. I sat with the book and wrote a letter to the sweet baby growing inside of me. I put the book into a bag with some tissue paper and waited for Michael. When he came home I handed him the bag. He pulled out the book and smiled and said thanks. I told him to open the book. He opened it and started reading. Then he looked up at me when he figured out what he was reading, I will never forget the look on his face. I shook my head yes and smiled at him. And in that minute everything was perfect!

Today would be my Mother’s 64th birthday. My Mom, Louann, died when I was 18 of an 8 year battle with cancer. Her favorite flower was yellow roses and her favorite color was green. Her favorite day of the year is when the Daytona 500 was on, because that meant the start of the NASCAR season. She love NASCAR and her favorite driver was Bill Elliot. She had a knack for organization and was an amazing cook. Even though we didn’t always see eye to eye on things I always knew that she loved me and cared about me.
There have been many times since I learned that I was pregnant that I wish my Mom was around. I have had so many questions. I am just happy for the people that I have in my life who love and care about me and my family. I miss her everyday, and I always will.
Love you and miss you Mom!! Happy 64th Birthday!!

Children grow so quickly that when you choose a theme for your nursery you need to choose something that will last. Before you know it your sweet little baby will be a big boy/girl and not want to have a “baby” room. You don’t want to have to re-do the room that you spent so much time and money on when your child turns two.
At first we wanted to have a baby Snoopy theme amazon.com/Sleepytime-Baby-Snoopy. Michael and I had talked about having that as a theme for years. We eventually decided against that because that is something that we would have to change it when he became a big boy. We wanted a theme that would last him a lot longer. Space was a great theme for that reason.
As time passes you will want to makes changes in the room, but small ones are better than large ones. We can always change things in the room, add a rug, get new bedding, or take down a poster. This way we can change things up without having to redo the whole room. So choose a theme that will last and will grow with your little one!

I really love writing this blog. I get to think about new things to write about and then sit down and write them, sharing our family stories this way is really fun. I have had many people tell me that they enjoy reading it too. That being said I think that writing it everyday is a little much. So, I am going to change things up and only post three times a week; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. There will be the occasional milestone, update, or other post too. Hope you all enjoy the new format.

My name is Julie, I live in Wyoming with my husband, son, dog and two rabbits. I became a Mom three months ago. I love my son and I love being a Mom.
Whoever said that being a parent is the best and hardest job in the world was right. My own Mother passed away when I was 18. I have one sister but she lives about 13 hours away. My father lives in Dallas, we talk on the phone about once a week. My Mother-in-law is about two and a half hours away, which is a huge help. The reason for all of this background information is to explain the support system that I have. I have some friends that have kids and I have family with children, but with my own Mother being gone I have had to figure out a lot of this parenting stuff on my own.
With all that in mind I decided to start a blog. I wanted to share some of the things that I have learned with other Moms out there. Even if you sit down and read all the parenting books there are some things that you just have to figure out on your own or be told by a fellow Mom. The other reason is to share some of those great Mommy moments. A good friend of mine has a blog where she post her what she hears her son say over the baby monitor at night. http://babymonitorupdate.blogspot.com/ Let me tell you it is a hoot, you should check it out! I thought that this would be a fun place to share some great moments in my son’s life. I hope you enjoy!
