Today Benjamin rolled all the way over for the first time! He went from his tummy to his side, which he has done many times. Then all of a sudden he was on his tummy and kept going to his other side and then his back again! Here is a picture that I got of him on my phone right after it happened. He has not done it again since, but it was amazing. I am so proud of my little man.
This is the first part in a series about finding out that we were pregnant, how that changed our lives, and how we dealt with all it. I am going to try to be as honest as I can in these posts. I think that it is important.
I am posting this one day late in honor of my one year Mommy anniversary!
For a couple of days my husband asked if I was pregnant. I kept saying no. At one point I even took a test and it was negative. I knew that I had some of the symptoms, but I just assumed that they were PMS. I have never been very regular so that was not a clue to me. I had all of the symptoms that you have with PMS; cramping, irritability, and tender breasts. I even made a joke to a friend that Michael thought that I was pregnant but I thought that he was crazy. In fact, that is a picture of me installing our floors when I was about three weeks pregnant, two weeks before I discovered this myself.
It was Monday, March 29th. I woke up at around 8:20 in the morning. I went into the backroom and figured that I would waste yet another pregnancy test. So I pulled out the test and did my business. I looked at the test as it filled in first the test line and then the second line. The pregnant line! I just sat there and stared at the test. The only think I could think was well that is new and different.
I went out of the bathroom threw on some clothes and drove out to Wal-Mart. I went straight to the pregnancy test section and bought two different brands of the digital read out test. I went to the register paid and drove home trying not to think. I ran up stairs to the bathroom and took the two test. There it was in black and white “Pregnant” and “Yes +”. There was no doubt about it…I was pregnant!
Benjamin went to the doctor on Thursday and he is 25 1/2 inches long and 13 pounds 8 ounces. He said that he is very healthy and growing great!! My little man is growing up too fast!!
I love this picture! Benjamin is wearing his Baby Nargles onesies my friend Sarah made for him at my shower. It is great because when Luna barks at nothing we say that she is barking at Nargles (Since she is named after the Harry Potter character Luna Lovegood).
Today is a momentous day in our house…the nursery is finally done!! We had been very close to being done for a long time but now we are finally done!! Michael’s Mom and brother came up and helped to get it all finished out. We were able to get the planets and stars on the wall and crib. Plus we painted his ceiling fan with stars.
I want to thank everyone who gave us items for the room, helped us put everything together, and gave ideas. Cheers to the coolest baby’s room in the whole world. In my opinion anyway! Below is a link to all of the pictures on Facebook, enjoy!!
On Thursday, March 17th we feed Benjamin rice cereal for the first time. The first day was a little rocky. He was not a fan. Day 2 was about the same. But, by day three he was opening his mouth when I brought the spoon up to his mouth. Now he is a pro, beside making a huge mess. I think it is pretty cute when he is covered in rice cereal. What a big boy!!!
Benjamin slept for 8 hours last night!!! We put him down at 10:30 thinking that he would be awake in 5 hours at about 3:30. He has been sleeping around 5 hours a night for the past week or so. When he woke us up this morning we we surprised to see that it was 6:30!! Way to go little man!!! And Mommy and Daddy are thankful for the extra sleep!!
On Thursday, November 17 Benjamin rolled over, half way, on his own. He was up with Grandma singing songs and playing and he rolled towards her on to his side to look at her. The funny part of this story is the next day. Benjamin and I were down stairs hanging out. Ben was on his back on his tummy time mat and I was on the couch. I look over and Benjamin is on his side looking at me. I am ecstatic, not know he did this yesterday. I took Luna, our dog, and run up stairs for the camera. I come back down and of course he is back on his back. I get all ready and call to him and he rolls to look at me and smile. I shout up stairs to let my Mother-in-law know and she informs me that he did this yesterday. Mom is always one step behind Grandma, especially one as good as Ben’s.
Congratulations to Benjamin on a half roll!!
