Benjamin Michael

Baby Smiles

As of today he is three months old.  Benjamin is named after Benjamin Franklin and his Dad, Michael.  He is really starting to show a ton of personality.  He loves to smiles and laugh.  He has the most charming smile in the world.  No matter how bad of a day I am having just thinking about that smile brightens my day!  He is beginning to use his hands and feet more.  Music is a new fascination in his life.  He love it when I sing to him.  His favorite song is “Beautiful Boy” by John Lennon.  It is really amazing to watch him learn.  I know that I am bias as his Mother but I believe that he is too cute!

His bedroom has a space theme to it.  There are two rockets hanging from the celling that Michael actually launched.  My favorite part of his room is the mobile that I made for him and a Neil Armstrong poster.  Michael’s favorite part is the Astronaut Snoopy that we found and the hanging rockets.  The warm start blanket, from his Aunt, is Benjamin’s favorite part.  We have had a lot of fun finding all the different space themed items that we put in his room.

On Friday, November 19, 2010 at about 8:00 pm I began having contractions.  They were steady, about five minutes apart, but not intense.  I called the doctor at about 10:00 and they said since they were not bad to wait.  I had experienced false labor so many times before this that I just assumed it was false labor again.  Since the pain was not bad I went to bed at around 11:00, while my wonderful husband stayed up and worked on painting the crib.  I woke up around 5:00 am from pain.  I took a shower and just before 7:00 we decided to make the trip to the hospital.  Labor was progressing well and things were going smoothly.  In the afternoon the doctor came in and explained to my husband and I that they were concerned that Benjamin’s cord was wrapped around his throat because his heart rate was dropping.  He said that we should seriously consider a C-section if his heart rate dropped again.  His heart rate did drop again and they began prepping me for surgery.  The doctor who delivered Benjamin was amazing!  Indeed Benjamin’s cord was wrapped around his throat.  Benjamin was born November 20, 2010 at 4:33 pm.  He was 7 pounds and 4 ounces, 19 inches long.  After he was born he held Michael’s hand so tight that his little finger turned white.  He was the most beautiful thing that I had ever seen, and still is!
